ok so clearly, I'm failing on my two days after Jen's post post. Seems to be turning into my three days after Jen's post post. Hopefully after this one I'll get into the rhythm of things.
Ok so after much contemplation I have decided upon my second song. Get ready... Drum roll.... 40 Day Dream by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros! Whoa! Badass! EPIC... I know. My love affair with Edward Sharpe and those kooky Magnetic Zeros when I accidentally came across them in one of my favourite shows, Hung. It took me a while to find the name of the song, which made it all the more badass. After a YouTube search for the song I myself watching a home-made music video for the song. I felt inspired. It fit perfectly with the song. Take a gander:
I got goosebumps watching it! This has been my feel good song of the summer

new klaxons finally!
So tomorrow, the new klaxons album, Surfing the Void, comes out. I have kind of been waiting for this day to come for a few months now... but not really. Luckily I didnt even have to wait for the release date because I came across a torrent of the cd last week. I am still not 100% sure if its real, but its good enough. Lol
The Klaxons' debut album, Myths of the Near Future, came out in 2007. Back then, I was in grade 12 and I somehow stumbled across a few of their songs. I downloaded the whole album this year and its pretty awesome. It should be because it won the award for best UK album, aka the Mercury Prize
It is said that sophomore albums are usually never as good as a band's first. This statement unfortunately holds true for these guys. The Klaxons' new album has a different sound than the first one. Some songs actually sound a bit like Muse... But a lot of the tracks off also start to blend into one after a few listens. I'm not much of a album critic though, so I totally still enjoyed it. ahaha
Here is my favourite track off the Surfing the Void which is coincidently also their first single;
And as a special treat, here is my favourite song off their first album. The music video is also fairly entertaining;
If these songs catch your fancy at all, check out the albums. But if your a song boi like Jamie, just stick to their main songs
p.s. Embedding is definitely easier than I thought. Yesssss, blog n00b no more
Drowning in Sweet Sorrow: The Clash at Demonhead - Black Sheep
Well ladies and gentlemen, I think it's safe to say that I've drowned in the sweet sorrow of the Clash at Demonhead! It is amazing. So just a few days ago Jen and I ventured out to the movies (only because it was cheap-movie-night) to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Perhaps because it's set and filmed in Toronto or perhaps because it has a badass cast the movie is amazing! Truly an epic of epic epicness.
The Clash at Demonhead is a pop rock band in the Scott Pilgrim world, headed by actor/singer Brie Larson. Larson is my love, playing angst-ridden self-searching teenage daughter to Toni Collette in one of my favourite shows, United States of Tara. I never new she could sing though! Black Sheep is actually a cover of Metric's Black Sheep and I dare say that Larson's voice works suits the song better! Blaspheme! Sacrilege, I know. I've been obsessed with this song since seeing the movie!
I thought this would be a good song to start with seeing as we just saw the movie and only a few weeks ago went to see Metric in concert. So I hope you guys enjoy it! And go check out the whole Scott Pilgrim soundtrack, the whole album is great.

first legit music post
So I spent all day thinking about which band is worthy enough to be featured in our/my first music post. I finally came to a decision at about 5:25 today when I was reading TOnight, Toronto's only free evening newspaper, on the TTC. Since I love this city, I figured I should be supporting one of our up and coming bands. I came across this band a few months ago and they are already starting to get more popular. This band's first album is out today, they are playing a show at the Mod Club tonight, and they are going to be on MTV Live tomorrow. They are... Sweet Thing! (pretty lame name though, not gonna lie)
Here's a little bio about the band, taken from their myspace;
"Meet Sweet Thing, a five-piece Toronto band that play infectious pop tunes. Sometimes they get pretty rocking, in that dramatic way that feels best when you clench your first and raise it to the sky. Charged with dueling guitars, Fleetwood Mac-y harmonies, and energy up the wazoo, Sweet Thing are the musical equivalent of drinking a milkshake at a 50s diner where the waiter keeps jumping on the table (and you like it). Let's call it 'music to dance like a dork to'."
Man, that last line couldn't be more true. Check out their first single at the link below and don't be afraid to dance like a motherf*cker;

Trust, this song is going to be on the Muchmusic countdown in a few months time (maybe sooner...). Have a listen to their cd and if you become a big enough fan, go to their show at the London Music Hall on September 24. It'll be like 10 bucks. They already played in London at Call the Office earlier this year too. Pretty cool.
I totally wouldve have dragged Jamie out to their cd release party tonight if I didn't have tennis, but we should be saving our money anyway so it's a probably good/sweet thing. Happy listening!

Intro cont'd
I do say, a lovely first post Jen!
Now to explain our badass usernames. I drew inspiration from one of my favourite "songs of the moment": Any Which Way by Scissor Sisters. I saw the music video and instantly fell in love! It was so bright and colourful and gay. I liked it. My favourite lyrics in the song: "I'm going to find that man that is the right shade of bottle tan, a man that smells like cocoa butter and cash." Hence, CocoaButterCash. Epic, I know.
Jen's username, sweetcatastrophe, is from the really old Something Corporate song, Hurricane. In her early angst-ridden tweenage days, she was a big fan of SOCO. She saw them in concert last weekend, so it was fresh in her mind (She picked up a badass T-shirt. I was jealous).
I think I should now give you some idea on mine and Jen's tastes in music. Jen is an album girl. She almost always downloads the entire album. Me, I'm a song. I rarely have more than 5 songs per artist, and on average I have only 2 songs per artist.
Right now we're both planning on adding a new post every four days. So there will (hopefully!) be a new post every two days. We have some über amazing ideas for this blog!!
Okay well that's about it for now. Keep reading!
p.s. I totally edited it!

first post evar!!!!
Hello blogging world,
Welcome to Jen and Jamie's second blog. We're hoping this one isn't as big a fail as the first one... lol
It's named after the movie, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, if you didn't figure that one out for yourself
It's an 8playlist because every 2 days we will be posting badass tunes hopefully for a really long time down the road. We will alternate the posts between Jen + Jamie. So if you like Jen's taste in music better (which will probably be the case), check back every 4 days
I would say our main genre we enjoy is indie rock. lol honestly, its hard to put a label on most of the music we listen to. but ill just say its usually pretty good and easy on the ears
We live in Toronto, go to school in London (ON), we like to dance to any kind of music (Jamie is actually a good dancer though, I just flail my arms wildly), we like things that are free, Jamie hates cheese (wtf??), hmmm...
Anyway, I ramble. Check out our blog and listen to some awesome tunes!!!
I hope you enjoy it!
